I took that image in the small village of Torno, on the eastern coastline of the Como Lake, in Lombardia.
That Ristorante is famous in all Milano metropolitan area for the great food, and specially for the old-Lombardian food.
It is one of the fews were is possible to eat the Missoltini, a small fish that live only in the Lake of Como; it can be cooked with polenta or grilled with the rice.
In Italy food is a very important moment of the day for all 56 Million of people!
In Italy there are 20 Regions, and more than 100 Provinces; each one have a local food, with dozens of dishes completely different from the others.
Food change completely every 40 kilometers!
Italy is long more than 1400 km, with important changing of climate, from some of the coldest European areas of the whole Europe on the Alps, to some of the hottest in the deep South, but with the Mediterranea weather that cover the most part of the peninsula.
So in the North Italy most common dishes are cooked with rice, beef, sauces, continental vegetables and cheese...
In the South Italy, pasta, pizza, fish and mediterranean vegetables and fruits.
The Central Italy have a mix of both.
But the most important thing is that every Province have different ways to cook foods, have different traditions, and completely different dishes.
