Rumours of rain, a photo from Northern Cape, West

Photographer's Note

A scorching hot day. We were driving nothwards from Kimberley. I took a series of shots of the clouds building up gradually. Only minutes later we were in the cool rain that is visible in the distance.
This was taken through the windscreen while going at 140km/h. I'm actually quite amazed that I managed to get this without major camera-shake, check the surface of the road! LOL And no, I wasn't driving.
Post processing: Cropping to try and get the bugsplats out of the picture, sharpening.

It is what we call: "have clouds on the head". I like very much the composition and this car far off which gives the perspective of the image. The sky is magnificent and this rain which falls far off. Beautiful photo.
C'est ce que l'on appelle: "avoir les nuages sur la t皻e". J'aime beaucoup la composition et cette voiture au loin qui donne la perspective de l'image. Le ciel est superbe et cette pluie qui tombe au loin. Belle photo.

Welkom by TE Su. Hoop jy geniet dit baie. This is a lovey scene, so typical of this country, only wish we could see more such clouds, and the welcome rain. I like you composition and the soft light portrayed.

Not only the clouds are astonishing, the sense of depth and composition are also very good.
You manage also to capture the beautiful light of Africa in a sunny day.

Wow, those cumulus clouds look extremely close to the road. It's like you could touch them. The colors are vibrant and there's good detail. Hard to believe you didn't stop to get this one. Great capture!

maybe a little too sharpened? (this was maybe as a compensation for a light blur due to speed?) The cloud is amazing but it is a bit too sharp so it looks more like a painting than a real life picture. it depends on what you wanted to achieve, really :)

really nice. great detail, lonely roads and ominous clouds make for a great composition. the colors are not too bright, not too washed out... perfect for the scene at hand

Hi Su, I know I am late ca. 3 years, I am sorry, I've just started and I need time to go through ;-) this photo has taken my breath away - nothing special: a road, shoulders, some grass, "asleep" colors, somehow untypical composition (very low horizon was my first impression)... yet, after taking a closer look - all your choices were PERFECT!

It looks surprisingly good for a "140km/h photo" ;)
The colors could be a bit more saturated, they seem a bit "flat".

It is good that you write about the rain as it is not easy to see without the hint... and it is a good point of interest for the photo.
