Childhood Memories, a photo from Kandal, West

Photographer's Note

I took this picture at my homeland. This is just behind my house. I used to come here to have a bath with other children in the village. But this is 20 years ago. I remember I took off all my clothes and enjoy the bath. I remembered after I got off the river, I felt so cold, so I pee, and I rubbed it with my body again to warm myself up. And I did not know that I already took a bath. So I need to go back again. A funny story.

Hi Sothy. A nice, sentimental piece. we all remember fondly the days of our childhood when life was an adventure and friends were true. A superb shot, with wonderful silhouettes of the boys, with the one lad appearing to be standing on the wheel of the bike. The tones and hues are dramatic and effective and I sense your nostalgia from your interesting note. We all long somewhere in our hearts to go home - but of course it is never the same, because we lived then in a special time and place. But it is good to remember. Very fine work, Sothy...later.

Hi Sothy,

This is wonderfully compelling photo of a fleeting moment. The child balancing himself on the real wheel of a bicycle, if he only knew the laws of physics, may not have attempted to do this. So it is much better to be young and do it anyway. Excellent shot. I can only join the chorus of admirers of this photo and your gallery,

What a shot Sothy! I agree with Ian that the horizon's a little off, but that's the only thing that's less than perfect about it. I love the colors, the clouds, the reflection on the water, but particularly the silouhettes of the children. Wonderful shot.

this is exquisite, the setting sun behind the children and the water is so full of feelings and memories, congratulations this is a gorgeous image. the composition is so effective as the kids stand on their beike, or splash in the water
