Photographer's Note
Cloud Gate, Chicago, Illinois
The Cloud Gate sculpture is in downtown Chicago by British artist Anish Kapoor. It is situated in Millenium Park. The sculpture weighs over 110-tons, and is 66 feet long and 33 feet high and took thousands of hours of polishing to get its shiney appeareance.
Taken on an overcast day in April; unfortunately the sky isn't the best, but I still like the reflections of the city behind.

there are so many things I like about this photo that I don't know where to begin :) I'll try and make a list:
1. although I agree that the sky isn't the most dramatic ever, in this photo that actually creates an interesting effect - the artwork seems to gradually transform into sky;
2. the curved reflection of the city;
3. all the people passing under the imaginary city subtly suggest that there's more to life than only the surface;
4. that couple on the left admiring their own reflection. neat :)
I'd say the overall feeling is dreamlike - distorted enough to differ from reality, but real enough to seem familiar. great shot.
best,
Kristine

Very cool shot, Amber. I like the sense of scale shown here. The reflection of the buildings in the sculpture makes a pleasing composition.

Hi Amber,
This is a puzzle for a guy who din'nt see yet in person the Cloud Gate sculpture. Photogapher's note explains well the thousands of hours of polishing the exterior but is quiet in regard with the interior. May be it is a huge vacuum device housing lots of small particles.
Great shot

Bonjour Amber
Joli cliché de cette oeuvre d'art avec la ville qui se reflète de belle manière. Les personnages donnent de la vie à l'image et permettent d'en apprécier les dimensions.
Merci pour le partage et bonne journée.

Hi Amber. An ideal motive for a creative photographer and you have shown it well. A clear blue sky or some dramatic dark clouds maybe would have been better, so why not go there again and show us?! Greetings Jens :-)

Hi Amber. Beautiful shot of this beautiful architecture with a good POV. The reflection on the shiney surface along with silhouetted people came off nicely. TFS. Regards.

I think it is perfect. Maybe on a very bright day you lose the detail in the reflection, I don't know? Still a cool pic and good job of getting far enough back to capture all the people enjoying the sight as well.

Amber,
Great one !
Again your great eye caught a beautiful picture, I do like a lot the reflections you shot.
I like too the white sky (ad I normally don't), because reflection top and sky are melted.
Superb !
Regards,
JB.
