Bachalpsee, a photo from Bern, West

Photographer's Note

Another view of Bachalpsee (with the Wetterhorn in the background) soon after leaving the Faulhorn (2681 m). Bachalpsee, 2265 M, is 5 hours away from Schynige Platte or 1 hr 40 min from First. Had to intentionally miss the last gondola ride down from First to Grindelwald because the place is just too beautiful to rush through. The intended 6hr 10 min (std) hike became more than 8 hr hike. But the one hour stop & rest was worth every minute. I met a local photographer from Grindelwald down there waiting for the wind to calm down so that he could catch the reflections on the lake. Still no reflections during the one hour I was relaxing there. But the guy was camping out there. Hope he got what he was waiting for that evening or the next morning. I was lucky to have had a fine & sunny weather all the way through.

The contrast in landscape between the snowcapped peak and the barren land in the FG is just superb. This is truly a beautiful sight. Well seen and captured ... well composed too. Very good image quality and natural colors. Excellent work! tfs

A truly stunning shot. The composition is fantastic. I think the background perhaps lacks a bit of contrast which I guess is due to the air that day. Maybe that could be corrected. Other than that a very impressive shot.

I really looks like a great hike, I'v been hiking in many different parts of the world but actually never in the alps so I have to go there pretty soon.
Even if It could have been more spectaculare with a watermirror on the small lake i think this is stunning. good comp and fine colors.
you can bring the tent an other time.

Indeed, this is the typical Alpine summer landscape I have seen in the French side almost 27 years ago. I also had some excellent weather while hiking for geological trips.
Your picture is very good and a great sense of depth/distance and beautiful colours. I love it.

aaaa these majestic views!!! These small lakes on the tops!
Everything is very clear to see, the earth line and the sky are superb clear, the photo has three wonderful main layers they give also a great depth.

Both the plans are great! I suppose there are 2 lakes in different elevation.
The same thing happens to us, my friend. We always make the hike in more than the expected time. But we have always enjoyed the route. The local photographer played it cool!
Last week I had the same problem with wind. I don㦙 know the results because the film hasn㦙 yet been finished but I trust my camera implicitly!
The whole exposure is perfect, having a very good depth of view. The weather was terrific!

I looked at this beautiful photo for a long time with its details; the fabulous mountains, the snow blanket on the tops, the two delightful lakes. You were lucky because the sky was blue and clear and the weather was sunny. You choosed a super POV and the photo is very sharp. Is this a building between the two lakes?

What a divine photo! I am glad to see that it has received the recognition it deserves. The colours are wonderful and the image quality is sharp and clear. The position of the lake is good, to break apart the landscape and add colour and texture variety. I like the view of the pathways below. The towering mountain backdrop is an awe inspiring sight, looks like it would be a challenging climb! Well done, you should be very pleased with this photo.
