Photographer's Note
Christmas table is ready, Christmas tree is hanging...
Why hanging? This photo shows interior of old wooden house from Orava region (now located at the Orava open-air museum).
Poorer people did not have money to build great houses, which moreover would be hard to heat. They were buildings as small houses as possible for living.
Because space was scarce, there was no room for the Christmas tree and therefore it must be hung above the table. Decorations were home and hand made from available materials - wood, straws, paper etc.
Food eaten at Christmas Eve supper must include bread, honey, some sort of pie, apples, some kind of spirit(I think these apply for most of Slovakia) and then regional "Christmas Eve meal" which differs from region to region.
I used wooden fence that blocks entrance to the room as a support and flashed (though reluctantly), because the room would be either too dark (when exposition set to light from the windows) or the details outside would be blown away when using longer exposition time
Image manipulation: I tried to get some more detail from the shadows (Brightness/Contrast) and after image size reduction I sharpened it (Smart Sharpen)
