Photographer's Note
Tapovan is 4km away from snout of Gaumukh and one can reach there after 2 hours of difficult trekking along the glacier on the same side as Gaumukh. It is the base camp for the Shivlinga peak and affords a stunning view of the Shivlinga peak, the Bhagirathi peaks and the Meru.
The trekking route is across the snout of the Gangotri Glacier and the last 1 km. is almost a climbing of a 70 degree steep mountain. But as you reach there and stand at the base of the Shivling peak and behold the divine beauty around, the fatigue gets wiped out.

Long time no see Avishek...where had you been. This is a very rare view of the Shivling peak which I know is not easy to access. You were right at the base of the peak...what was the height here? Like the excellent exposure on the snow & contrast with the clear blue sky! Well done.
