Breton Sacred fountains

Breton fountains are indeed very numerous. You can never find a church or a chapel, without a fountain attached to it.
In fact, they all date back to pre-christian times;then, when Brittany was evangelised after the Romans'departure, the evangelisers, coming mainly from Wales and Ireland, decided to use the existing worship places, in order not to frighten away their converts-to-be, who would feel reassured by keeping their old traditions.
